At Soul Fire Farm’s BLFI Program in 2017 we were gathered into teams and I was part of the Onyx team with Heidi, Khari and Lis. Here we are direct sowing beans into already planted corn and squash.

Farming in Puerto Rico (Patio Taller in Carolina, Finca Conciencia in Vieques, Humacao con Millo) - June 2017
I participated in a Caribbean Beekeeping immersion program for 2 weeks @ Finca Conciencia. We learned about and how to care for Africanized Bees and they’re connection to people from the African diaspora.
Loved the way they created they merged theyre crop plan with their work plan for the year which included amazing community building and healing like natural medicine clinics.

My friend Millo , who I met and instantly connected to while doing the beekeeping program, took me to the family-owned farm they worked at in Humacao and we got to farm together, and make delicous drinks and food with what the land gifted us. Including coconut milk and mango juice. Thank you Millo <3
The best way to wash dishes is looking at nature.
While I was working with Millo I got to meet their friend Max and they allowed me to stay with them in their cozy apartment in Rio Pedras where we made these delicious passion fruit pancakes!
A large group of folks from Puerto Rico attended the Allied Media Conference in Detroit a few months before this photo and they gathered to share with other people to share what they learned from the different liberation movements happening in Detroit.
